&lt;p&gt;Like I posted earlier, running is not easy, but today’s run challenged that. I ran 8 miles and it was a great run! &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I think that running makes people very philosophical and introspective, at least it does to me:)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I was thinking about my journey as a runner, and here is what I came up with…&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Before I was a runner, I used to…&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;care about how fast people ran&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;always ask if people walked when they would go running, and assume they were not “legit” if they did&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;think that you were only a legit runner if you ran a marathon&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;believe that if you did not own Victoria’s Secret PINK workout clothes and Nikes, you were not a runner&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;believe that only skinny people could run&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;*added from &amp;#8220;erindoeslife&amp;#8221; thinking when people ran, they ran in a full out sprint. Haha so true!!!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Now that I am a runner, I know that….&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;it doesnt matter how fast you run, you are doing it!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;most people do, in fact, walk….and that’s ok!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;the majority of people that consider themselves “runners” run 3 times per week about 3-4 miles…though races sure are fun:)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;if you wear VS PINK, cool, but I can’t stand the cotton. Drywick is much more breathable…AND Nikes are great shoes, but not the be all end all of shoes. I am totally content with my Sauconys&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;ANYONE can run. Skinny, fat, tall, short, fast, slow…we ALL can run. It just takes perseverance, drive, and passion.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I am not one for countdowns, but just thought I would mention…8 days until my marathon:)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My posts have been a bit sporadic because, let&amp;#8217;s be honest, when you are training for a marathon and working full time, there is little time for Tumblr. *wink* Ok, there is time&amp;#8230;ALWAYS time, but I have been so swamped.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Few quickies about me&amp;#8230;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;I had Gastric Bypass in 2009 and have since lost 170+ pounds&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I have not stepped on the scale since 1/1/2012 and I wont until after my marathon. I want my marathon and running to be about fitness, NOT the scale.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I have run 2&amp;#160;5k&amp;#8217;s, 1&amp;#160;10k, 1&amp;#160;15k, and 2&amp;#160;1/2 marathons, in addition to logging tons of mile running, swimming, and biking.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I am training for my first full marathon on June 3rd in San Diego&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I love my job and love my life.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I am a Christian and try to love God and love His people.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have thought about this verse all day long! Last night at church we were discussing faith and how important it is to have. Beyond faith, it is waiting in anticipation of the Kingdom that Christ promises us!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Then&amp;#8230;.we read the verse above and it just clicked! Being a runner, I understand what it means to run with endurance the race that is set before us. I know what it is like to look at the finish line in anticipation of the great things to come.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So I thought about this all day in running terms and in terms of being a follower of Jesus, anxiously awaiting the Kingdom that is promised to me because I am his precious child.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Just as running a race take endurance, so does putting your faith in Christ. We do not wake up one morning and run 1 mile or 26 miles or anywhere in between. We train, we work hard, we endure the challenges and the tough runs, even when we dont want to. The truth is, we signed up for the race&amp;#8230;.we will FINISH:)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Being a Christian is so much like this! You do not just wake up one morning and have 100% faith in God for everything in our lives. We have to work at it. We train up in the Word of God. We endure the hurts and hang ups that come with being human, even though we don&amp;#8217;t want to. Just like running, when I became a Christian, I signed up for this race toward the Kingdom and I WILL FINISH:)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As we run, our mind is set on the finish&amp;#8230;.it is set on the prize! I love getting a medal after a race. I love looking at all the sweat, tears, and distance I have traveled. I look at how hard I have worked and how far I have come. I will thank those who have carried me when I was discouraged and those who have cheered me on along the way.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Likewise, as a Christian, when my breath ceases to exist here on earth, I will have reached the ultimate finish. I will collect my prize; eternal life in Christ. I will enter the Kingdom with sweat, tears, and I will look back at the distance I have traveled to get to where I am. I will bow to the Father in gratitude for what he has done for me. I will thank those who have supported me through the breakdowns and the walls.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I love how God gets down on my piddly little level to speak to me. By faith, I know that He has promised me something great&amp;#8230;so I build up endurance and run the race the Christ has set out before me. He knows the way. 1. I straight snapped my glasses in half...</title><description>&lt;p&gt;Today, for me, was full of firsts and lots of laughter :)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1. I straight snapped my glasses in half this morning because a cup dropped off my desk right on to them! WHOOPS&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. As I headed down to the coast to run with my sister, as I opened my trunk, I discovered my water had spilled all in my purse! I literally had to dump it out. Luckily, my iPod was in a separate bag.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3. I set out for 14 miles, the longest I have EVER run to date. As I was running, it was so hilly! Ok, so &amp;#8220;hilly&amp;#8221; is relative, but none the less, it was hillier than I usually run. Despite that, I ran hard:)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4. Tried and liked PB Gu! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;5.Got whipped by sand for 2 straight miles because it was so windy!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;To give you more of my race recap, basically the first 12 miles were pretty good. Steady pace, though it was hard. When mile 12 hit, I hit a bit of a wall, but kept telling myself that I was almost there. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;At mile 13, it started pouring rain! Seriously, what the heck?!?! The rain is not too bad, but the problem was that I had major Chub-Rub, despite using BodyGlide! That CR burned soooo bad, but I continued to run:)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Then the dried salt on my face started dripping in my eyes from the rain! I literally ran with only 1 eye open for the last 1/2 mile of my run! It was actually comical, in my opinion. I pressed through despite it all.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I felt a little sick after my run at lunch, so I took some salt. I think that I was low on electrolytes because I only drank water, and not Gatorade or Propel.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I came home and took an Epsom Salt bath, stretched and am ready to head out with the girls tonight:)&lt;/p&gt;
